There was significant intrigue around the idea of pass rusher Joey Bosa joining the San Francisco 49ers and playing alongside his younger brother, defensive end Nick Bosa. The 49ers and Miami Dolphins were reportedly making strong pushes to acquire the former Los Angeles Chargers defender. However, the Buffalo Bills ultimately sealed the deal, signing Bosa to a one-year, $12.6 million contract.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports that a 49ers-Bosa union never seemed to come close to materializing.
"A lot of people were talking about a potential Bosa reunion in San Francisco," Rapoport said Wednesday on NFL Network. "It didn't sound like that got close at all, really, to happening. I know there was a lot of speculation, but didn't seem like that was really much of a possibility.
"The Miami Dolphins, actually, seem to be the team that made a push as much as anyone, but it was the Buffalo Bills, who said goodbye to Von Miller earlier in free agency, could not agree to terms with him."

While the Bosa brothers train together during the offseason, they last played together at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, where Joey was a senior and Nick was a freshman. They won't be teaming up in 2025, as Joey opted for a higher payday over a reunion in the Bay Area.
