A day after linebacker Dre Greenlaw was revealed to be headed to the Denver Broncos in free agency, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reported that the San Francisco 49ers are bringing back restricted free-agent linebacker Curtis Robinson. However, instead of tendering Robinson, the team is signing their 2024 Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee to a one-year deal.
Robinson spent most of the 2024 season recovering from a torn ACL, but recent reports indicate he is progressing well.
The Denver Broncos signed Robinson (6-3, 235) as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford in 2021. Last season, Robinson recorded one tackle in three game appearances before the injury, contributing primarily on special teams, according to Pro Football Reference.
Robinson, 26, has recorded 10 tackles and a quarterback hit in 15 career NFL games. He initially joined the 49ers on December 6, 2021, after being released by the Broncos.
