Forty-Niners tight end George Kittle appeared today on the Rich Eisen podcast. The topic of discussion was everything Brock Purdy, beginning with the size of his thighs.
Eisen noticed that Purdy has bulked up his body this offseason, especially his thighs. Kittle noted Brock came into the league with noticeably large thighs, and they've grown over the past two years. The thigh discussion on Twitter has become a fixation for 49ers fans.
Kittle said, "Compare Purdy to Christian McCaffrey to Nick Bosa. It's a Pokémon evolution."
He continued, "Purdy has huge thighs, Christian McCaffrey has huge thighs, and Bosa has Bosa thighs. Eventually, Purdy will turn into Bosa."
Kittle says the media sees the baby-faced Purdy and speaks about him "like he's a little kid wearing a J.C. Penney's backpack. He's not."
Kittle described Purdy as a monster; he's a dawg.
Kittle is always talkative and makes a point of getting to know his fellow players, especially the rookies. "There's zero hazing but I do like to see how they react," Kittle said.
"I like to banter with them to see if they will talk back to me or will they act shy like he's George Kittle and he's been in the league for eight years."
Kittle attended Iowa, and Purdy attended their in-state rival, Iowa State. Three years ago, the then-rookie Purdy was assigned a locker two down from Kittle's.
On the first day of full practice, in jest, Kittle put an Iowa Hawkeye shirt in Purdy's locker to test the rookie's mettle. Purdy opened his locker, saw the jersey, and said, "Did you put this f**ker in here? Get this sh*t out of here." Then, he instantly took it out and threw the shirt on the floor.
Kittle laughed and said to himself, "I'm going to like you. Respect. I love that."
The mutual respect and football connection have grown ever since.
