According to Jordan Schultz, the San Francisco 49ers are signing cornerback Tre Swilling from the practice squad to the active roster. Swilling was
elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams and played 14 snaps on special teams. He reverted back to the practice squad after the game.
According to Schultz, this isn't another temporary elevation. Instead, the Niners are signing him to the active roster.
"He's on the active roster now," Schultz told 49ers Webzone when asked for clarification. "He wasn't before — was only for one game."
The 49ers listed cornerback
Ambry Thomas as
"questionable" for Thursday night's game against the New York Giants. He is dealing with a knee injury. The team placed cornerback Samuel Womack on
injured reserve this past weekend. Womack suffered an MCL injury during practice last week.
San Francisco also
added cornerback Anthony Brown this week. While he could suit up against the Giants, general manager John Lynch said it would likely be in a backup role. Brown is returning from an Achilles injury sustained in December.
"
Yeah, there's a reason he's available," Lynch said on KNBR. "It's that he is coming off an Achilles. But it feels like he's at a good place. We'll learn a little more here in the coming days about where exactly he's at health-wise."

49ers announce roster moves ahead of battle with Eagles
The San Francisco 49ers have announced two roster moves ahead of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Wide receiver Chris Conley and safety Erik Harris have both been promoted to the active roster from the team's practice squad. Both are standard elevations, meaning they will be promoted for the game against the Eagles, and then revert to the practice squad.
Conley, who will wear number 84, is being elevated for the third time this season. A player can only be promoted to the active roster, from the practice squad, three times during the season. After the third elevation, the team can only sign the player to the active roster. Otherwise, he will stay on the practice squad for the duration of the season.
Conley is in his ninth NFL season. He played
49ers vs. Eagles Injury Report: Arik Armstead doesn't practice
The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 13 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Defensive tackle Arik Armstead is dealing with a foot injury and did not practice. When asked if it was a similar issue to what he dealt with last season (plantar fasciitis), head coach Kyle Shanahan responded, "Not sure exactly. I know it's his foot, but not sure how similar it is."
Also missing from practice were running back Jordan Mason, who is dealing with a hamstring issue, and wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud, who is recovering from a rib injury.
Guard Spencer Burford returned to practice on Monday after being among the 49ers' inactive players against the Seattle Seahawks last week. He
