The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 3 contest against the New York Giants on Thursday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Brandon Aiyuk will likely be a game-time decision. On Wednesday morning, general manager John Lynch shared that the wide receiver is working hard this week to play on Thursday. Aiyuk suffered a shoulder injury on a catch during the 49ers' opening drive on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.

"I think, with Brandon, with these Thursday night games, they're a quick turnaround," Lynch said during a radio interview. "So he clearly got something irritated in his chest/shoulder area. He's working really hard to try to get ready. And with these Thursday night games, you take it all the way down there. You don't have to make your inactives until Thursday.

"So Brandon's working really hard. He's a warrior. You can see it in his play. He's having fun because I think everything's starting to click for him. So I know he's a guy who doesn't want to miss [a game]. We clearly won't put him out there if it's not in his best interest, but I think that situation is very fluid."

Cornerback Ambry Thomas is the other 49ers player working through an injury this week. He suffered a knee injury during Sunday's game.

"He's doing better," Lynch said. "And again, he's a guy we'll see in the coming days if he's ready. It would help us to have him. Ambry's really made a big jump as a player, and we'd love to have him, but we just got to see if he can get there."

As for the Giants, they have officially ruled out running back Saquon Barkley, who suffered an ankle sprain in New York's Week 2 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Below are the official injury reports for the 49ers and Giants, provided by the 49ers Communications staff.

Defensive tackle Arik Armstead is dealing with a foot injury and did not practice. When asked if it was a similar issue to what he dealt with last season (plantar fasciitis), head coach Kyle Shanahan responded, "Not sure exactly.
