On Sunday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said the team expected six players to return to practice this week. Five were dealing with injuries, while the other, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, was ill and did not play during Saturday's 21-20 preseason win over the Denver Broncos.
The five players returning from injuries are defensive linemen Kalia Davis and Drake Jackson, linebacker Dre Greenlaw, tight end George Kittle, and running back Elijah Mitchell. All six players were suited up for Monday's practice. Per multiple reports, Kittle and Greenlaw participated in individual drills but not team drills.
Davis, Greenlaw, and Jackson were reportedly dealing with hamstring injuries. According to team reports, Kittle is working through an adductor strain, while Mitchell is returning from an abductor strain.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan plans to play his starters in Friday's preseason finale against the Los Angeles Chargers, the team's final outing before its regular-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 10.
The 49ers will begin issuing official team injury reports during the week leading to the opener.
