San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy returned to the football field on Saturday in a preseason contest against the Denver Broncos at Levi's Stadium. He was out there with the rest of the Niners starters.
How did Purdy do in his only drive of the night? He went 4-of-5 for 65 yards and a passer rating of 118.8, leading a game-opening 68-yard drive that ended with a field goal. Purdy also rushed the ball for eight yards and was sacked once.
That was it for Purdy, though. Sam Darnold was out there when the starters returned to the field. Trey Lance is also expected to play.
Tonight was Purdy's first in-game action since the NFC Championship Game, when the quarterback suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow. He underwent surgery on March 10.
The 49ers expect Purdy to be the starting quarterback when they visit the Pittsburgh Steelers for the team's September 10 regular-season opener.
