After such a successful off season in which the 49ers were able to re-sign many of their own free agents and bring in other pro bowl type players in Ron Stone and Tony Parrish, the feeling was that they only needed to add depth with the draft and the signings of un-drafted free agents. Free agents signed last season at this time, still with the team include Al Blades, Ben Steele and Jamie Rheem.
