The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 3 contest against the Denver Broncos on Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado.
George Kittle has been cleared to play this weekend. The tight end will make his 2022 season debut after suffering a groin injury on September 5.
"He's good to go. I thought he got better each day," head coach Kyle Shanahan said after Friday's practice.
Defensive lineman
Arik Armstead sustained a foot injury during Week 2's win over the Seattle Seahawks. As a result, he did not practice this week and is listed as "questionable."
Along the offensive line,

49ers allowing Arik Armstead to leave was a 'tough' decision
Arik Armstead was the longest-tenured member of the San Francisco 49ers, joining the team as a first-round draft pick two years before head coach Kyle Shanahan's tenure began. Despite the team's efforts to retain him by negotiating a restructured contract, they ultimately released the veteran defensive lineman when no agreement was reached.
"It was real tough," Shanahan said this week about the situation. "I mean, we've been with Arik since we've been here and I know he was here a couple years before us, so it wasn't something we really wanted to happen. It's one of the tough things when trying to keep a team together, and just where it goes with the salary cap and stuff."
Betting on himself, Armstead wanted to test free agency to see if anyone would be willing

According to general manager John Lynch, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward wasn't the sole player to undergo core muscle surgery this offseason. Lynch disclosed to reporters at the NFL owners meetings on Monday that All-Pro tight end George Kittle also had the procedure.
However, the silver lining is that both players are expected to be fully cleared for training camp, set to commence at the end of July.
