The San Francisco 49ers are re-signing running back Jeff Wilson Jr., per a post by the player on Instagram. He was an unrestricted free agent.

"Every opportunity is a blessing never forget it," Wilson wrote. "I would like to say thank you to my family and friends supporting me. Last year was honestly the toughest time of life but through those times it has built and molded me to what you'll see! Ready to slide with my guys LFG!"

San Francisco signed Wilson (6-0, 213) as an undrafted free agent out of North Texas in 2018. He carried the football 79 times for 294 yards with two rushing touchdowns while adding seven receptions for 31 yards through nine game appearances with the 49ers last season.

Wilson, 26, has 1,265 rushing yards on 298 attempts with 13 rushing touchdowns in 37 game appearances (nine starts) through his four NFL seasons.

The 49ers running backs under contract are now Wilson, Elijah Mitchell, JaMycal Hasty, and Trey Sermon.
