The New York Jets made Cannon (5-11, 185) a sixth-round selection out of Virginia State in 2018. He carried the football three times for four yards through 12 game appearances with the 49ers and Baltimore Ravens last season.
San Francisco claimed Cannon off waivers on September 15, 2021, and he served as a core special teams contributor, averaging 20.5 yards per kickoff return on 16 attempts. Due to a concussion, he landed on injured reserve on December 11, 2021, and was activated ahead of the NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Cannon, 27, has 150 rushing yards on 51 attempts with a rushing touchdown in 46 game appearances through his four NFL seasons with the Jets, Carolina Panthers, Ravens, and 49ers.
