49ers open the practice window for RB JaMycal Hasty

Oct 18, 2021 at 11:29 AM--

The San Francisco 49ers have opened the practice window for running back JaMycal Hasty and have up to 21 days to activate him off of injured reserve. That may happen before Sunday night's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Hasty landed on injured reserve on September 25 due to a high-ankle sprain suffered during Week 2.

San Francisco signed Hasty (5-8, 205) as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor in 2020. He carried the football six times for 41 yards with a rushing touchdown while adding five receptions for 36 yards through his two games this season.

Hasty, 25, has 189 rushing yards on 45 attempts with two rushing touchdowns in 10 game appearances through his two NFL seasons.

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 12 contest against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Running back Elijah Mitchell is still in a blue no-contact jersey, per the only reporter on hand to watch Friday's practice, Matt Barrows of The Athletic. Mitchell is still recovering from surgery to repair a finger fracture. I was the only reporter on hand for the early portion of practice, which either means I'm incredibly dedicated or I'm a massive loser. (Please don't answer which). The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have opened the practice window for defensive end Dee Ford. Ford has been on injured reserve since November 6 due to a back injury. He is expected to practice with his teammates on Thursday. Head coach Kyle Shanahan hopes to have Ford and linebacker Dre Greenlaw available on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. "Dee, we don't want to put him [out there] three days in a row, just because of how he's been since he's been here," Shanahan said during a KNBR interview on Wednesday. "So, we're waiting until tomorrow to start to practice him. So, tomorrow's a big practice. I know he's feeling great, from what he said, so

Elijah Mitchell won't practice; 49ers open practice windows for Dre Greenlaw, Jaquiski Tartt

On Tuesday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that rookie running back Elijah Mitchell was undergoing a procedure to repair a finger fracture sustained in the team's Week 10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. However, the coach wasn't eliminating the possibility that Mitchell, the 49ers' leading rusher, might play this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars or even practice today. Shanahan told reporters today that Mitchell will not take part in the first practice of the week, but the coach believes he will be good for Sunday's game. "He just had [the procedure] yesterday," Shanahan said. "Today, he's not good enough to practice. I think he'll go Sunday, but we've got to see day to day." Jeff Wilson Jr., Trenton Cannon, and

Kyle Shanahan, Jimmy Garoppolo leaving door open for QB to remain with 49ers in 2022

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about the future of the team's quarterback position. Jimmy Garoppolo is the starter right now. His eventual successor is rookie Trey Lance. That plan has not changed. The timing of the transition, however, is uncertain. Garoppolo has played well over this recent four-game stretch. San Francisco has won three of its last four, and the quarterback owns the league's best passer rating (113.2) during that span. If Garoppolo leads the 49ers into the playoffs, the team might not be eager to part ways with the veteran. Shanahan was asked if the Garoppolo to Lance transition could be delayed, given the former's recent success. Might the 49ers hold onto Garoppolo for the 2022 season? "I think there's a
