49ers place Raheem Mostert and Jason Verrett on injured reserve

Sep 14, 2021 at 2:41 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that running back Raheem Mostert and cornerback Jason Verrett have been placed on injured reserve. Both will miss the remainder of the 2021 season.

Mostert and Verrett were injured during Sunday's win against the Detroit Lions. Mostert suffered a knee injury. While he was initially expected to miss about eight weeks, the running back announced today that he would undergo season-ending surgery on what is reported to be a torn meniscus.

Verrett suffered a torn ACL and lands on injured reserve for the sixth time in eight seasons.

These are devastating injuries to two players who were expected to be significant contributors this season. Mostert and Verrett are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents after the season.

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that the team has officially placed Dre Greenlaw on injured reserve. The linebacker had core muscle surgery this week and is expected to miss about four to six weeks. "Dre, I think it's his oblique, is what you would call it," Shanahan said on Friday. "That's been bothering him for a little bit. It's something that sometimes gets better the more you rest it. That's why we've been careful with him in practice and everything. But as you do that, as we've been doing for a few weeks, and it's still getting worse, that means you know it's not going to heal up. "So we finally had to make that decision yesterday, which

The San Francisco 49ers were holding onto a commanding 41-17 lead against the Detroit Lions when starting cornerback Jason Verrett went down with an injury.
