San Francisco 49ers running back Jeff Wilson was having the game of his three-year NFL career through the first two-and-a-half quarters against the New England Patriots Sunday, but his day may have come to an early end due to an apparent leg/ankle injury.

Wilson sustained the injury while running for his third touchdown of the game midway through the third quarter. Wilson was in visible pain while holding his leg after the play, then was carted off the field after hobbling to the sidelines. He was initially declared questionable to return.

Wilson rushed for 112 yards on 17 carries before departing the game and became the first 49ers running back to score three touchdowns in a road game since Roger Craig in 1988.
