New York Jets safety Jamal Adams is headed to the NFC West, but not to the San Francisco 49ers. Instead, he will join the division-rival Seattle Seahawks, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Seattle gave up three draft picks for Adams, including its two first-round selections over the next two years. The Seahawks also added safety Bradley McDougald in the deal while receiving Adams and a fourth-round pick in 2022.

Adams, 24, requested a trade in June and named both the Seahawks and 49ers among his desired destinations. There was an unconfirmed rumor that San Francisco had reached out to the Jets to inquire about the disgruntled safety.

Adams is a two-time Pro Bowl selection and was named a first-team All-Pro in 2019. He is seeking to become the highest-paid safety in the NFL. The Seahawks will need to address that in the near future.

The Jets made Adams the No. 6 overall selection in 2017 after playing college football at LSU. He went three choices after general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan made defensive lineman Solomon Thomas their first-ever draft pick after joining the 49ers.

Adams registered 75 tackles, 6.5 sacks, seven passes defensed, an interception, a touchdown, and two forced fumbles through 14 games with the Jets in 2019. He has recorded 273 tackles, 12 sacks, 25 passes defensed, two interceptions, a touchdown, and six forced fumbles through his three NFL seasons.
