Jets safety Jamal Adams would welcome a trade to these seven teams, including 49ers

Jun 18, 2020 at 3:12 PM--

Safety Jamal Adams has informed the New York Jets that he wants to be traded, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

The San Francisco 49ers are among the teams that he would welcome as a destination, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. Of course, that list includes six other teams.

The Jets made Adams the No. 6 overall selection in 2017 after playing college football at LSU. He registered 74 tackles, 6.5 sacks, seven passes defensed, an interception, a touchdown, and two forced fumbles through 14 games with the Jets in 2019.

Adams, 24, has recorded 266 tackles, 12 sacks, 25 passes defensed, two interceptions, a touchdown, and six forced fumbles through his three NFL seasons. He is a two-time Pro Bowl selection and was named a first-team All-Pro in 2019.

It is unknown if the 49ers would be interested in pursuing Adams, who has two years remaining on his rookie deal. The Jets picked up the former first-round pick's fifth-year option, keeping him under contract through 2021. The safety remains frustrated by New York's inability to come to terms on a new long-term deal.

Cimini, however, reports that the Jets do not plan to trade Adams.

"The Jets have no intention of trading him, sources said," wrote Cimini, "but Adams could try to force their hand by being disruptive and staging a training camp holdout. He is upset because he feels the team is dragging its feet, sources said."
