Richard Sherman didn't make ESPN's list of the top 10 cornerbacks in the NFL. Still, EA Sports' latest installment of the popular multi-platform football video game, Madden NFL 21, seems to have a very different opinion of the San Francisco 49ers veteran.

Not only was Sherman among the top 10 rated cornerbacks in the game, but his overall rating of 92 put him at No. 3 on the list behind only Stephon Gilmore of the New England Patriots and Jalen Ramsey of the Los Angeles Rams.

Below are more ratings within the game for the 32-year-old cornerback.

Overall: 92
Speed: 87
Acceleration: 88
Strength: 79
Agility: 91
Awareness: 99

Sherman also ended up tying for the second-highest rating among 49ers players. Both he and offensive tackle Trent Williams were behind just one player, tight end George Kittle, who earned a 98 overall rating.

"How smart he is makes up for the physical limitations at this stage," said one NFL executive told ESPN writer Jeremy Fowler. "If he doesn't win at the line, he can struggle with instant separators, in-breaking stuff. Or if hit vertically, can be tough to recover. But from a ball skills standpoint and football instincts, toughness, tackling, still one of the best."

Sherman, a five-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time first-team All-Pro, is entering his third season with San Francisco and 10th in the NFL. He racked up 61 tackles, three interceptions, a touchdown, and 11 passes defensed through 15 starts in 2019, according to Pro Football Reference.

Sherman's overall Pro Football Focus grade of 88.9 was the second-highest of his career and his best mark since 2012.

What do you think about Sherman's rating in Madden NFL 21 and the cornerback being snubbed in ESPN's rankings? Which is a more accurate assessment of the veteran cornerback?

PFF high on this cornerback for 49ers in mock draft

By David Bonilla
Apr 15

Analyst Dane Brugler of The Athletic grades former Iowa State cornerback T.J. Tampa as a second or third-round draft pick and ranks him 55th overall on his big board. Pro Football Focus, however, holds a higher opinion of the young defensive back. In his latest mock draft, the site's lead analyst, Sam Monson, has the San Francisco 49ers selecting Tampa with the No. 31 overall pick. "T.J. Tampa fits the prototype of a 49ers cornerback," Monson explains. "He has had consecutive seasons of very impressive play and allowed just 240 yards on 49 targets last season. The team doesn't necessarily need him to make an immediate impact, but they could

NFL insider states the obvious regarding 49ers' talks with Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
Apr 18

ESPN insider Adam Schefter recently shared his insights on the situation surrounding San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk during an appearance on the network's "NFL Live" show. Schefter clarified that while Aiyuk would like to remain with the 49ers, his priority is securing a contract that reflects his value, regardless of the team. When questioned about Aiyuk's desire to stay with the team that selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Schefter responded, "Well, I think his desire to get paid is greater than his desire to stay in San Francisco, wherever that is. If the 49ers want to pay him, I'm sure he'd love to stay in San Francisco. If another team would like to pay him, I'm sure he'd like to go

49ers' Brock Purdy addresses young fan's question about scripted NFL

By David Bonilla
Apr 18

Taylor Swift, the Kansas City Chiefs, and a Super Bowl overtime matchup. If the NFL is scripted, the league came up with a good one this past season—unless you're a San Francisco 49ers fan. During his inaugural youth football camp at Levi's Stadium this past weekend, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy faced a candid inquiry from one young participant: Is the NFL scripted? "No, the NFL is not scripted," a smiling Purdy responded. However, the quarterback added, "Good
