Deebo Samuel jumped on Instagram Live from his hospital bed after his foot surgery on Thursday. The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver suffered a Jones fracture in his left foot earlier in the week. While NFL insider Ian Rapoport estimated a recovery time of 12 to 16 weeks for Samuel, the receiver was more optimistic, saying he plans to be back in 10.
Samuel told fans he was running routes when the injury occurred. The 49ers have been holding player-organized practices this week at the Brentwood Academy, just outside Nashville. Samuel, who had been training in Houston, Texas, traveled to Tennessee to join his teammates.
NFL players are unable to utilize team facilities or gather in an official capacity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Surgery went perfect," Samuel told his fans. "I'm telling you all, in 10 weeks, it'll be a better Deebo than you have seen. I'm telling you, legendary."
One fan asked Samuel which 49ers player will have a breakout season in 2020.
"Me, I'm telling you," Samuel responded.
The receiver also stated that he was really looking forward to a steak dinner. Hopefully, he got that.
You can watch a cut-up of Samuel's Instagram Live session, which was posted to YouTube, below.
