San Francisco 49ers tackles Mike McGlinchey and Joe Staley forged a strong friendship over the past two seasons. While the bond will likely continue, their time as teammates will not. Staley, on Saturday, announced that he is retiring after 13 NFL seasons.

Following the announcement, McGlinchey wrote the following about his friend via his Instagram account, following by the #HOF hashtag, showing that he, like so many Niner fans, believes Staley deserves to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Words can't describe what you have meant to me since I was lucky enough to be selected to the @49ers. You have given everything you've had to our team, staff, the York's, and the Faithful, and have been the best pro and role model I could have ever asked for.

The accomplishments you've made and the example you have set on the football field have been nothing short of extraordinary, and without a doubt have paved your path to Canton. Still, with all of the accomplishments on the field, the example you have set as a leader, teammate, friend, husband, and father will be what I will remember the most.

I wore your jersey number in high school with the hope that I could one day do the things that you did in this great game, and to have had the opportunity to become your teammate has been one of the greatest honors of my career.

You are a Hall of Fame player and person, and you will be missed on our team, and I am thankful that I gained a friend and mentor for life.

Can't wait to see what steps are next for you as I know the best is still yet to come. Enjoy the time with Carrie, the girls, and the rest of the Staley clan. No deserves it more. I love you brother, @jstaley74.

Thank you for everything!

McGlinchey is entering his third NFL season. The opposite side of the offensive line will now be anchored by seven-time Pro Bowl selection Trent Williams, whom the 49ers traded for on Saturday morning.

49ers abandoned by bad teammate, fall to Rams: Rapid reactions

By Marc Adams

What a pathetic performance by the San Francisco 49ers. The offense was horrid and the defense, even though they played well for three quarters, couldn't hold off the Los Angeles Rams in the final quarter, as the 49ers lost 12-6. The loss didn't mathematically eliminate the...

The San Francisco 49ers have lost three games in a row. And they've been sloppy doing so, losing the last two by 28 and 25 points. The team that played in the Super Bowl earlier this year looks nothing like the team that is playing right now. Sure, they are missing several...
