There is a silver lining to the San Francisco 49ers losing their sixth-straight game. They moved up two spots in their projected 2017 draft order. Last week, they were in line to have the fourth overall selection in the draft. Following Week 7's 34-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they have moved up to the second overall pick if the season were to end today. The 49ers win a tiebreaker with the Chicago Bears due to a weaker strength of schedule.

The number one spot belongs to the winless Cleveland Browns. Monday night's game is not expected to impact the 49ers' placement at the top of the order.

How high the 49ers will actually select will be determined by the rest of the season and their final record.

Below is the current draft order, based on playoff seeding (21-32), record, and strength of schedule (SOS), for all 32 first-round spots if the season ended today. Of course, the order of playoff teams would eventually be determined by the completed playoff picture.

49ers extend second-round tender to WR Jauan Jennings

By David Bonilla
Mar 11

The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have extended a second-round tender to wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who was slated to become a restricted free agent on Wednesday, the start of the new league year. The 49ers had aimed to negotiate a contract extension with Jennings before the onset of free agency. The right-of-first-refusal second-round tender ensures Jennings a deal valued at $4.89 million for the upcoming season. The team stands to gain a second-round draft pick should he sign elsewhere for a higher salary. While the tender for Jennings exceeds expectations, it presents an attractive salary for the receiver in 2024, should he remain with the team. "Jauan is really

49ers to host Marshawn Kneeland and Jamal Hill on pre-draft visits

By David Bonilla
Mar 13

The San Francisco 49ers' evaluation of draft prospects is underway. As part of their assessment, the team will welcome two players for visits: former Western Michigan edge rusher Marshawn Kneeland and former Oregon safety Jamal Hill. San Francisco recently agreed to terms on two-year deals with defensive ends Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos, bolstering its pass rush. However, after losing Clelin Ferrell in free agency and facing the likelihood of Chase Young playing elsewhere in 2024, the team appears keen on adding more explosiveness along the edges through the draft. Kneeland registered 57 tackles, including 7.5 for a loss, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 10 game appearances with Western Michigan as a senior in 2023, per
