49ers defense gives up 311 yards of offense by halftime

Sep 25, 2016 at 2:30 PM--

So much for a struggling Seattle Seahawks offense. The cure was obviously a matchup against the San Francisco 49ers defense. Seattle had 311 yards of total offense ... by halftime.

The fact the the 49ers offense continues to struggle has not made things any better for San Francisco. The Blaine Gabbert led unit managed just 102 total yards of offense in the first half with only 25 coming from the running game, which has struggled so far this season. That's interesting considering that, in the past, Chip Kelly offenses have focused heavily on the running game and been very successful doing so.

The only reason the Seahawks had 311 total yards and not 317 was because the 49ers managed to sack Seahawks QB Russell Wilson at the end of the first half. RB Christine Michael is averaging nearly 7 yards per carry against the 49ers and has two touchdowns. Wilson has efficiently completed nearly 74-percent of his passes.

On offense, the 49ers are without TE Vance McDonald who left the game with a hip injury and CB Jimmie Ward who left the game with a right quad non-contact injury.

The Seahawks lead the 49ers 24-3 at halftime.
