Colin Kaepernick skipped out on passing for the second practice in a row, this time during the team's joint-practice with the Houston Texans. He was held out due to what head coach Chip Kelly described as "arm fatigue" and a sore throwing shoulder.
On Friday, Kaepernick only participated in three handoffs and one running play where he kept the ball. Following practice, he was asked about the shoulder and described it as "just tightness." He was also asked if he would play on Sunday. "I think so," he responded. Kaepernick compared the shoulder "injury" to when he was a pitcher in high school. "My arm always snapped back quick," he said. "I'm not worried about it."
"Kaepernick said he did a lot of throwing as training camp approached, but it was difficult to prepare his throwing arm for the strain of the team's high-tempo practices,"

CSN Bay Area. "I threw quite a bit," Kaepernick said. "But you can't (replicate) that live action, though and intensity and quick twitch that you need when you're going against a defense."
Kaepernick stated that he definitely expects to start a game during preseason based on his conversations with Kelly. "From everything he's told me, we're both getting a fair shot," said Kaepernick.
Kaepernick is currently going through the process of getting his tinted visor, which has been prescribed, approved for games.
The 49ers and Texans will open up their exhibition seasons on Sunday at Levi's Stadium.

When asked about the possibility of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk not being on the San Francisco 49ers roster on Friday morning, general manager John Lynch responded, "I wouldn't anticipate that."
Lynch assured reporters that signing Aiyuk to a long-term extension is a priority, stating, "And our wish is that he's here and a part of the Niners for the rest of his career. We're working through that."

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.

Draft Watch: Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley visiting 49ers on Wednesday
The San Francisco 49ers are hosting several draft prospects this week as the deadline for pre-draft visits draws near. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team will host former Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Wednesday.
Corley is expected to be a Day 2 pick. San Francisco owns two selections on Day 2—the No. 63 overall pick in the second round and the No. 94 overall pick in the third round. Currently, the receiver is visiting with the Seattle Seahawks.
