49ers sign 21 rookies and cut 4 players, including QB Dylan Thompson

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Friday that they have signed nine of their 11 drafted rookie class, per Chris Biderman of
Niners Wire. The only rookies that remain unsigned are first-round selection
Joshua Garnett, a guard out of Stanford, and third-round selection
Will Redmond, a cornerback out of Mississippi State.

The 49ers released four players. They are
QB Dylan Thompson,
G Jordan Devey,
K Corey Acosta, and
RB Kendall Gaskins, per Eric Branch of the
San Francisco Chronicle.
Thompson was part of a crowded quarterback group that includes
Colin Kaepernick and
Blaine Gabbert, who will likely battle for the starting job. The team also signed free agent
Thad Lewis and drafted
Jeff Driskel out of Louisiana Tech in the sixth round of the draft.
The 49ers have also signed the following 12 undrafted free agents.

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.

49ers sign CB Rock Ya-Sin to a one-year deal
The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have signed cornerback Rock Ya-Sin to a one-year deal. He becomes the third cornerback to join the team this offseason. The Niners previously signed free agents Isaac Yiadom and Chase Lucas to one-year deals.

Ya-Sin (5-11, 195) was originally drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round (34th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. Throughout his five-year NFL career with the Colts (2019-21), Las Vegas Raiders (2022), and Baltimore Ravens (2023), he has appeared in 66 games (40 starts) and registered 193 tackles, 29 passes defensed, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
