It was pretty obvious that CB Josh Norman would be in high demand after the Carolina Panthers rescinded his non-exclusive franchise tag on Wednesday, making him an unrestricted free agent. The San Francisco 49ers were one of the first teams to reportedly inquire about Norman. However, they may have some competition. Apparently the Washington Redskins have "a very legit offer on the table" for Norman, per CBS insider Jason LaCanfora.

LaCanfora states that the 49ers' interest – as well as others – in Norman remains strong. According to Pro Football Focus, Norman had the third highest coverage grade among corners last season (+16.8) and led all corners with a passer rating allowed of 54.0.

Norman will visit with Washington on Friday, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

San Francisco has been very quiet since the start of free agency in early March. They have not done much with their $52.6 million in cap space, an amount that could easily absorb a player like Norman. However, the 49ers typically are not ones to overpay for big names. Washington has nearly $12.2 million in cap space according to the NFLPA.

Norman could fill a big need for the 49ers defense, which finished last season ranked 27th in the league against the pass, allowing 261.2 yards per game. Norman was part of a Panthers defense that ranked 11th in the league against the pass. The shutdown corner started all 16 games last season for Carolina and had four interceptions for 110 yards, two touchdowns, 18 passes defended, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

Amidst swirling trade rumors surrounding Brandon Aiyuk, the speculation surrounding Deebo Samuel's future with the San Francisco 49ers seems to have quieted down. According to Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers have assured Samuel that he will not be involved in any pre- or post-draft transactions, ensuring his place on the roster for the time being. "Samuel, who signed a three-year, $71.55 million extension before the 2022 season, has been assured by his bosses that he will not be dealt during or after the draft," Silver reported, citing a source familiar with the discussions. Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus unveiled a seven-round mock draft for the San Francisco 49ers, addressing several key needs for the team in the 10-pick projection. Interestingly, the mock draft sees the team adding two legacy players. But before delving into that, let's examine the first three selections. Sikkema has the 49ers shoring up their offensive line at pick No. 31 with the selection of former Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan. Morgan allowed 14 pressures and two sacks in his 477 pass-blocking snaps at left tackle in 2023. He earned an impressive pass-blocking grade of 87.3 and an overall grade of

Daniel Jeremiah's final mock draft has 49ers adding another weapon for Brock Purdy

By David Bonilla

NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah unveiled his fourth and final mock draft, projecting the San Francisco 49ers to select Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy with the No. 31 overall pick. While many anticipated the 49ers bolstering their offensive line in the first round, Jeremiah's choice may raise eyebrows. However, with seven offensive tackles already off the board, he opted to provide third-year quarterback Brock Purdy with another explosive target. "This is my favorite fit in the first round," Jeremiah explained. "We saw what Tank Dell did in a similar offensive system with Houston, and we know what Mike McDaniel has been able to build with so much

Schrager mock draft has 49ers adding 'universally liked and respected' receiver

By David Bonilla
Apr 16

With only nine days remaining until the start of the 2024 NFL Draft, Good Morning Football's Peter Schrager revealed his first mock draft of the year. While most might expect the San Francisco 49ers to target an offensive lineman, Schrager has the team bolstering its wide receiver corps with an SEC talent. Schrager has the 49ers using the No. 31 overall pick to select former Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey, whose 2023 campaign with the Bulldogs was limited by back and ankle injuries. "McConkey in the first round? Yes," Schrager wrote. "Above guys like Troy Franklin and Keon Coleman? Perhaps. I've spoken to a
