Game Day: San Francisco 49ers at Denver Broncos

Aug 29, 2015 at 12:00 AM--

Tonight, the Denver Broncos (2-0) will host the San Francisco 49ers (1-1) at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado.

The 49ers are coming off of a 23-6 home victory against the Dallas Cowboys. The Broncos are coming off of a 14-10 road victory against the Houston Texans.

The 49ers hit the road for their third preseason game. The team has been in Denver for most of the week, taking part in joint practices with the Broncos at their training facility, the Paul D. Bowlen Memorial Broncos Centre. Unlike some NFL teams that attempt to do the same thing, the joint practices have mostly gone without an incident with both teams feeling that they have been beneficial.

You can view the day one practice notes and the day two practice notes from numerous team beat writers, many of whom traveled to Denver for the week.

Last week, the 49ers defense recorded a trio of interceptions from S Craig Dahl, CB Dontae Johnson and NT Mike Purcell. Purcell took his interception 37 yards to the end zone for a touchdown. San Francisco's defense also recorded 4.0 sacks on the day in their home win over the Cowboys.

On special teams, WR Quinton Patton blocked a punt and recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown. RB Jarryd Hayne returned three punts for 84 yards (28.0 average).

Of course, OLB Ahmad Brooks stole the headlines this week after returning home to California to face a charge of misdemeanor sexual battery. A number of outside linebackers will attempt to fill his role as the regular season quickly approaches.

Today will be the exhibition debut of running backs Reggie Bush and Kendall Hunter. Bush was a free agent acquisition while Hunter is returning from an ACL injury suffered in 2014.

DB Craig Dahl, TE Vance McDonald, LB Philip Wheeler, CB Tramaine Brock, LB Desmond Bishop will not play against the Broncos.
