Niners Sign Linebacker Coyle to Three-Year Extension
Brock Coyle was passed over in the NFL draft when he finished his schooling at Montana in 2014. But, he's certainly made the most of his opportunities.Coyle, signed as a free agent by Seattle in 2014, played in 35 games for the Seahawks over three seasons – mostly on special teams – before coming to the 49ers in 2017.Last season, the 6-foot-2, 245-pounder started the season as a special teamer before filling in at middle linebacker. He wound up starting 10 games and performing well. He was in on 62 tackles in 2017 with a half sack, one forced fumble and a pass defensed. He played 191 special teams snaps and was on the field for 57 percent of all defensive snaps.Now the Niners have rewarded Coyle with a new deal for three years that provides depth at middle linebacker and bolsters special teams.Tweeted general manager John Lynch: "Welcome back @BrockCoyle56. With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, it's common for the rumor mill to start churning, especially with players who are actively seeking a new contract. It was just two short years ago that WR Deebo Samuel requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers prior to draft day, only for cooler heads to prevail and eventually agree to a new deal.
Now, it's WR Brandon Aiyuk's turn to try and get paid and rumors surfaced over the weekend that he too would request to be dealt. While that report was quickly shot down by his agent, there's still a lot of discussion about Aiyuk's future and if other teams will come calling on draft night.

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.

NFL Communications has officially announced the "NFL legends and active players" who will announce selections during Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Representing the San Francisco 49ers will be former defensive tackle Anthony "Spice" Adams, who spent four seasons with the team and nine in the NFL.
San Francisco selected Adams out of Penn State in the second round (No. 57 overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft.
