they probably asked him to take a pay cut and he didn't want to do it, so they are cutting him before week 1 so they don't have to pay him guaranteed money. He will resign after week 1.

Third string QBs dont make a lot money. If the niners are worried about saving a few thousand bucks by releasing him then the niners have bigger problems.

He never had a chance to showcase his talent. A diamond in the rough, but the coaches have no eye for talent to recognized it, and give him a few more years to learn. It's sucks and totally classless.
