based on their situations and talents, Clark deserved the all-pro. he was almost as offensively proficient as Davis, and he didnt lead the league in drops like VD, or in penalties like VD.

This. The big things are the drops and the penalties. Davis' skills are a blessing but his penalties can also be a drive killer. He needs to tighten up the discipline. Until he Does Clark > Davis overall but it is tight.

Vernon Davis doesnt having Peyton Manning at QB...And Vernons one of the best if not the best blocking TEs in the league...Hes faster, stronger, more explosive, etc..

Would you really take Dallas Clark over Vernon Davis?

It helps to have Manning as a qb, him and Dallas have great chemistry. So I'm looking forward to seeing what Smith/Davis can do with an entire offseason, because Davis was a big target for him once he got the starting job.

Eh, you can make an argument either way. It really depends on the offense you're going to run.

For our offense, Davis is a better fit than Clark. Clark is a WR more than he is a TE.

Davis can makes plays with bad-to-average QBs. Clark has done what he should do with a hall of fame QB. And Clark certainly does not have game changing speed or open field ability.

Davis also dominates in the blocking game. I'm not even sure Clark lines up to block.

This whole Clark is better than Davis thing seems pretty silly. You had a case three years ago. Not anymore.

Dallas Clark plays like a receiver. Vernon Davis plays like a tight end.

To each his own. Considering this is a passing football league I'm gladly looking past Clark's blocking and seeing that he has better hands then Davis, is more polished than Davis, is a superior route runner than Davis, and gets more RAC than Davis.

Tight ends should be seen and not heard.... somebody should tell Vernon that nobody gives a damn about tight ends. Vernon and his lack of humility is what is wrong with sports today. The guy will never help you win a championship. We will never, ever win with this guy on the roster. He is all about himself. His BS agreement with Smith to throw him that garbage TD against the Lions was abominable. Replace him Walker and nobody cares.

Dallas Clark is a better football player and has more class.

Davis on the Colts > Clark on the Colts

Stats speak louder then words and Clarks resume is longer at this moment then Davis, but time can only tell. I personally think Davis is a better all round Tight end due to the nature of the position but Clark has already proven himself year after year on what he can do, so I wouldnt use him as a steping stone. V. Davis has a great oppertunity in front of him but like alot of players out there, but what you say now can and will come back to bit you in the future.
To me a Tight end must be a good blocker, that is the job of a TE, and Davis has already proven he is ellite blocker. Now the passing game Davis is the scarest I"ve seen in a long time but with only one minor, fixable, flaw and that is "the dropping of pigskin". Just like everyone else who plays the game, you work hard to accomplish your goals and get better, and Davis will.
The thing that sticks out to me on why Davis didnt make All-Pro team is because of of Clarks Resume and nothing more. Clark puts up very good stats year after year and alot of people believe that is more deserving then anothers mans first break out season. Now I can see why they would choose Clark but the turth of the matter is that Davis can block a lot better and guess what, he can make plays too down the field... So All Pro team shouldve went to Davis and not Clark... hands down.
