Yes... he was horrible. I remember those 3rd and long draw plays. There is a reason he's no longer an OC in the NFL!

He was really bad but Terry Donahue is the biggest A-Hole in the past twenty years

You can thank Norv Turner for 2007. Hostler had some interesting offensive ideaology (WCO/Digit hyprid) but no clue how to install it and was lost in game planning and play calling. In reality he wasen't qualified to be an OC and Nolan should be held accountable for that decision.
But to answer your question, Yes. He was that bad.

The playcalling under Hostler was vanilla and predictable. Defenses might as well have been in our huddle.
I don't remember the rams game that well from that year, but I remember the Cardinals game. The offense wasn't able to do much at all until the end in the 2 minute drill when they let Smith run the show and improvise a bit, we scored a TD despite the WRs doing their best to make sure we didn't.

Yes, he was that bad, but it really wasn't all his fault. He just wasn't ready to be an OC at that time. The guy definitely gave it his all and I hope he learned from his bad experience.

It was kind of sad during the Cards game when they showed Hostler up in the booth with Tollner right next to him overlooking his shoulder, it was like watching a father teach his son how to shave.

Yes. Yes he was.
Hostler was the result of a clueless head coach, painfully predictable play-calling, and inferior personnel meeting in a perfect storm of OMGWTFNESS.
And good riddance to him.

Yes.
A decent position coach, but well out of his depth as OC. The blame belongs to Nolan, who promoted him into a position for which he was not qualified.
