yes
WTF? Second week in a row, late Sunday afternoon, and you go fish some old posts out of the distant past and bump them up?

Way to stay current.

What else has any Coordinator with Alex Smith done? He certainly changed things up with Hill in there. I don't know, I thought he was having a solid start for a first time coordinator in those 3 games. I also think Nolan had too much control in the plays being called or the plan being applied.

Who knows.

vernon did catch the ball it was a bad call and did u see what happend to vernons knee

why bump this...especially with just a "yes".

great analys, i'm glad you bumped this thread.......
This thread was created in a transparent and weak attempt to slam Alex and his efforts in a 2-1 record. The OL sucked... receiver's hands sucked... playcall sucked... Gore was recovering from both shoulder and ankle surgeries, plus a broken hand in TC... yet we managed to scrape out 2 wins out of the 3. Alex didn't put up impressive numbers, but with all of those problems above mentioned... no way he could have.

< unless he can walk on water and blow fire from his arse... he is a 1st overall pick... he should have overcome all of this and done better no matter what... (sarcasm) >
We were lucky to win our first 2 games.

You are exactly right, which is why we fired Nolan

Joe..

This hardly seems like an "innocently" inserted topic, as if it was entirely unknown what a comment such as this, and initial post would eventually lead to in this thread..

If Hostler wasn't that bad, he wouldn't have needed help and guidance from Tollner.

If Hostler wasn't that bad, he would have gotten wins with Dilfer.

If Hostler wasn't that bad, he would have kept his job.

How ironic it is that he took Johnson's job who could end up being our O-coordinator one day

Yeah and our qb's and o-line was bad aswell
It's not clear Hostler was bad at play calling or game planning. He was certainly awful at two things: preparation, and gaining players trust.
I know the results were bad. I don't know what kind of leash Nolan had on Hostler but I do know that the offense picked up a little when Tollner was added to the booth to be "a second set of eyes."
