Was Hostler really that bad?

Hostler can only be judged by the quality of our offense after the entire season, we were one of the worst offenses in the history of football. That being said, the quarterback situation certainly didn't help. I'm also pretty sure that Nolan, in his infinite stupidity, probably did his share of meddling. We'll never know just how much was Nolan and how much was Hostler.

Taking all that into consideration.....

YES!!!!!!!!
He sucked. And so did our quartebacks. Shaun did alright though when he came in off the bench.

i still have nightmares of first downless football games, never seen anything like it
Actually he was worse.
For starting this thread, you are relieved as captain of Starship Hill....

Guards, take him away and lock him up in the brig.

Wow, you have around 30,000 posts(experience) and ask a question like that?

It's getting boring this offseason.

Just a couple days till the combine, hang on there.

God help us all, i dont know how much of this i can take. NFL should be year round.

We looked like we were doing quite well through the Steelers game in 2007. Then Smith got injured and we have Trent Dilfer who sucks. Then Hill comes in and we begin doing better again.

I just think back and remember Hostler using the spread offense in the Steelers game. Was it that he had crap at QB for most of the year?

You haven't seen bad yet. This year will be beyond bad. Bumbling Mike and his sidekick Sleepy will make you wish Hostler was still around.
We were lucky to win our first 2 games that year. We got really lucky the first game. If we didn't get the recovery in the end zone we would of lost. In the Rams game they missed a field goal with about 40 seconds left. We could of easily been 0-2
Uh... Yes, Hostler really sucked. The offensive stats speak volumes, they really were offensive.

But worst of all, the 49ers were almost unwatchable. If I wasn't a lifelong die hard, I would have turned them off.
Hostler was whack, couldn't call a game to save his life.
I don't know if he was that bad or not. What I do know is that the wide receiers were horrible and would not or could not catch a ball. So if your receivers don't catch, line was not able to block, and your #1 QB goes down, while you are learning the OC role you are in trouble.
yes

What else has any Coordinator with Alex Smith done? He certainly changed things up with Hill in there. I don't know, I thought he was having a solid start for a first time coordinator in those 3 games. I also think Nolan had too much control in the plays being called or the plan being applied.

Who knows.

Joe he was even worse than that,he was more of a problem than Smith.Once Tollner was brought in,the play calling got better, but Hostler was the absolute worst.I know you have some kind of personal hatred for Smith, but come on man...you are better than that.
