Seems like a logical move? David Carr got one series to prove his worth, which is back in Bakersfield. Im sure Nate has a pretty good grasp of the playbook by now, and if Troy and Alex Smith suck for the rest of the season we can toss him in to prove his worth.

Davis needs the reps and he's not getting them right now. Carr needs to be with another team and so does Alex.
Troy is an unknown and we'll find out soon enough where he belongs.
Regardless, Nate should be our third stringer. Carr should be cleaning the team toilets. Alex should be Carr's understudy.

I would cut Carr and have Nate Davis as the number 3..
Give Troy this week v.s STL, see how he performs.. Has to be lights out or else I would give Alex Smith BACK the keys and give him the rest of the season to see where he stands with the team, if ALL fails and we fall flat, maybe give Nate a shot somwhere down the last quarter of the season..
If we cant draft Luck.. Get a vet for next year, make Nate Davis the backup to groom if Troy nor Alex can turn the ship around..

the niners lost the OT from Stanford to carolina, signed off our practice squad. Carr is not the answer, so cut carr now, bring up nate davis to protect him. Hopefully Nate Davis can turn into a good back up for troy smith and next year have a high potential draft pick like john skelton drafted in round 4 or 5 to be the third qb.
This is all assuming troy smith remains strong and resigns, as deon says, we pay the man.

all 31 teams passed on Nate Davis earlier this season. With his dyslexia, no team is going to sign him at this point of the season. Therefore this thread is irrelevant.
