Peep this, Marsh.. from Carmichael Dave's Facebook...
Coming up for a quick breath:
What we are seeing is the very tip of a plan the Mayor has had all along. The trigger mechanism was activated this week with the Seattle news.
Now work is being done around the clock to set in motion the many moving parts necessary to bring home a victory once and for all.
I personally will be rolling out part of that plan in the next day or two, finally a chance for all Kings fans to mobilize and be counted.
I can only tell you that the Mayor is in Beast Mode, and is beyond prepared for this. He has all the ammo he needs.
We are not bringing knives to a gunfight. Just understand one thing above all, no matter WHAT you hear:
We. Will. Win.

I'm a Warriors fan, but I live in Sac and the way the Maloofs are f**king the Kings fans is just ridiculous. If they want to sell the team, fine. But if that's the case, why not at least TRY and work with a local buyer first who is willing to keep the team here? If they exhaust all efforts at that, then I could see them selling to an outside interest that wants to move the team, but it seriously seems like this is almost personal against the city of Sacramento. David Stern is a worthless dick as well...he should be doing everything he can to keep stability in the league by keeping the franchises where they are if at all possible. That should always be the first option unless the team has absolutely no proven fan base that will fill an arena, but that certainly isn't the case in Sacramento. I understand the Kings have been down for a while, but the city and its fans don't deserve to lose the team.

Nice post DC. You are dead on with your observation, IMO. The Maloofs hate KJ after the arena fallout, and vice versa. And, rightfully so, the fans and citizens of the Sacramento region uniformally despise the Maloofs. The Maloofs obviously know this and probably dislike the community to put it mildly. I think this is personal, and if the Maloofs had it their way they would love to leave Sac high and dry.

In an interview with @USATodaySports, Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson insists his window hasn't closed to keep the Kings in Sacramento.

Johnson to USAT: "(NBA Commissioner David Stern) knows that I'm going to make a request to speak to the governing board (of the NBA)."
Sam Amick @sam_amick
Johnson swears he'll get a shot here, says he's rounding up the money & targeting $425-450 million mark as comparable to $525 in Seattle.

I don't know Johnson compares $425-450 to $525. Especially when you are "rounding up the money". And the governing board won't hear of forcing an owner to take that much less money. If the Sac offer was equal in dollars, then maybe.

The $525M probably isn't what Maloofs would get. They would probably get that less the $70M in debt to sac.

The NBA will never approve a deal for less money to a last minute "money roundup" situation, because it isn't just about purchasing the team. It's having the money (and a huge amount) to actually run the franchise. I hope the Kings can find a Sacramento ownership group that is viable and will offer a comparable amount. I'm not confident.

It isn't less money. You didn't seem to read my post. This is like NFL contracts. I'm sure the Maloofs are leaking that $525 number to drive up the price. But who know what that agreement actually looks like. It could be $450M net to the Maloofs for all we know.

It isn't a last minute round up. KJ has had this lined up for a long time but the Maloofs said they would never sell. And now that they are, he can set the wheels in motion and get the buyers involved.
