Hey now. Give him some some time to recruit with the new stadium and facilities. IMO
f**king pathetic!!! I cant believe i sat through the whole game. There was absolutely no positive to take away from this game We got beat in every aspect of the game! Coaching blows, QB play blows, O-Line blows, Defense blows! What a disgrace that the #1 rated public university in the world can't field a decent football team. A complete joke!
our biggest problem on offense is the O-line, but Maynard's accuracy when he throws doesn't help either. We all know Allen is a stud, but Treggs/Harper have also been pretty good and you have to be excited about the future at WR with them and the other freshmen.

on defense, we cannot rush the QB unless we blitz, and our secondary is looking worse than it is because of it

We're among the 4 worst teams in the conference and I wouldn't bet on us beating WSU/CU/Utah on any given day
My biggest problem with Tedford over the last few years is his inability to recruit a QB. He is known for putting QBs in the league and he lost that. I would have sold that on every recruiting trip. We had a streak where the team was really good with some exciting players on both sides of the ball...he should have been able to recruit. I know he recruited a top notch prospect last year, but until he plays, we have no idea. Instead I have to watch Maynard.

I was clinging to being able to attract better prospects once the new facilities and stadium finished, not sure Tedford gets to enjoy that after this year.

From what I watched Maynard stayed in the pocket

he is a scrambling qb, he is not a pocket passer imo, you need to do bootlegs, shotgun, roll him out.

He had 12 attempts for -20 yards (not sure if sacks are counted there, but dont think they should be)

I don't expect Allen to stay but I wish he would

from what I saw, the single most blaring problem is for sure Maynard. IMO he is the worst QB in the PAC-12 from what I've seen. Well maybe Nunes is worse. But your guys WRs were open, Maynard was just crazy horrible at getting the ball to them. And its just not a matter of skill, its intangibles are god awful as well. I have never seen a QB kneel when he thinks he caught a D-lineman offsides....

I don't think Cal's O-line played particularly bad, any team we face is going to face a lot of sacks and TFL's, thats just how we play. Against Utah we blitzed every play except 4. We are #2 in the nation in TFL and #4 for sacks. And when your QB can't throw with any accuracy whatsoever when goes for more than 10 yards, theres no reason not to blitz.

With the ASU fans I was with, we all agreed if Cal had just a decent QB they probably win that game because Keenan Allen was constantly getting open.

and if Cal had a coach that wasn't gutless!

haha, ASU fans had the same thought as well. We couldn't believe they didn't try for at least a FG at the end of the half....

I don't think the problem is Tedford though, I think the problem is all the money that is available goes to him and your assistants dont get anything because not much is left. CFB requires highly paid assistants. A great example is that top notch recruiter you guys lost to Washington.

The best 5 out of the "next up and coming" coach:

1. Butch Jones, HC of Cincinnati - current pay $1.5 million
2. Chad Morris, OC of Clemson - current pay of $1.3 million
3. Willie Taggart (Harbaugh protoge), OC of Western Kentucky - current pay $225k
4. Kirby Smart, DC of Alabama - current pay $850k
5. Sonny Dykes, HC of Louisiana Tech - current pay $700k

Edit: I'd love to see Willie Taggart get a big time job. What he has done at Western Kentucky is eye-popping.

SJ Mercury news article on Taggart: http://blogs.mercurynews.com/49ers/2012/09/07/harbaugh-has-rooting-interest-as-western-kentuckys-taggert-takes-on-no-1-alabama/
