on defense, we cannot rush the QB unless we blitz, and our secondary is looking worse than it is because of it
We're among the 4 worst teams in the conference and I wouldn't bet on us beating WSU/CU/Utah on any given day
from what I saw, the single most blaring problem is for sure Maynard. IMO he is the worst QB in the PAC-12 from what I've seen. Well maybe Nunes is worse. But your guys WRs were open, Maynard was just crazy horrible at getting the ball to them. And its just not a matter of skill, its intangibles are god awful as well. I have never
seen a QB kneel when he thinks he caught a D-lineman offsides....
I don't think Cal's O-line played particularly bad, any team we face is going to face a lot of sacks and TFL's, thats just how we play. Against Utah we blitzed every play except 4. We are #2 in the nation in TFL and #4 for sacks. And when your QB can't throw with any accuracy whatsoever when goes for more than 10 yards, theres no reason not to blitz.
With the ASU fans I was with, we all agreed if Cal had just a decent QB they probably win that game because Keenan Allen was constantly getting open.
