I love the Barnes and the Green pick. Dont know much about Festus to make any sort of judgement on him.

I am excited for next season, but I still cannot bring myself to think that this is a playoff team. We still have one of the weakest (if not THE weakest) bench in the league. I suspect we will finish around 9-12 in the West again, and have to fight to keep our pick.

i dont think our bench is as weak as you make it out to be, it was the bench unit that usually brought us back into games the warriors were tanking.

Kobe

Same height, both 4 letter names, play SG. Same players but Klay has the better 3 PT shot

Still so excited with how well the draft went for us. Aside from Barnes, Ezeli and Green were picks I was hoping for. When I look at our potential starting lineup of the future, I see a finesse team:

Curry, Klay, Barnes, Lee, Bogut

Our backup rotation is filled with tough, gritty players:

Jenkins, Rush, Green, Tyler, Ezeli

I'm excited to get the season rolling!!

still don't see that we have a superstar. kinda why I was hoping for Drummond.

the thing about the NBA is, the gap between the top couple seeds in the West and the bottom few is tremendous. so while we may be able to make the playoffs now, it's not like were going anywhere. you need a legitimate superstar, any other solid players are just gravy.

if drummond turns into a Dwight Howard type player (ya i know long shot, yada yada) then you've got a legitimate superstar with pieces around him to compete with teams like the Thunder.

but without that, what are we? just a team that can beat most other teams in the West, but will never be able to topple the best ones in the playoffs.

essentially I feel like we should be aiming to beat teams like the Spurs and Thunder, which means take the biggest homerun swing you can. anything else is just fooling ourselves into the playoffs.

We still have a bunch of young players that have lots of room for development. For all we know, Barnes could turn around and become a legitimate NBA star in the future. If you look at teams like Indiana, Memphis, and Philly, I don't feel like they have superstars on their teams, but they made it to the playoffs and competed well because of the pieces that they had mixed in with the right coaching. I feel like we've got excellent pieces on this squad to get to the playoffs and compete.

that is so KEY. The jury is still out on Mark and whether he can develop this young talent and turn them into at least playoff contenders to begin with as we continue to evolve

The involvement of Malone is huge too. Jenkins showed he could play and Tyler progressed well towards the end of the season. That's good development.
LOL, Ray Fatto not liking the Barnes pick.

Makes me like it even more. Ratto is a dunce.

A small forward and a big man, the players were wrong, but the idea was right. I think Barnes definitely fits in nicely with what we have assembled. His offense should be doubly aided by Klay and Steph as shooters and by Lee and Bogut as passing big men. His mid range game should flourish off of spacing alone.

However, the quality most needed as always is Defense and if he can bring it on that end he could immediately be our best two-play player, save Bogut. Perhaps Richard Jefferson can play Player/Coach and mentor the kid to justify his absurb contract.

I'm concerned about his lack of ability as a ball handler, but I suppose that just deepens the need for Curry to step up as the Point Guard that the team hopes he becomes sans Monta. I still want to bring in Jason Kidd, but I'm sentimental that way.

SO when you say the players were wrong tell us what 2 players you would have selected instead that would be better fits? Very curious.

It was obvious that he wanted Drummond because it gives Fatto more things to write about if Drummond busts. That guy is all negative, ALL THE TIME.

Thats what I mean about the gap in talent though. Every one of those teams got bounced from the playoffs and really wasn't in a position to compete for the championship in reality.

Philly lost to Boston in 7. Indiana lost to Miami in 6. Memphis lost to the Clipps in 7. They competed well against teams with superstars.

And what's next for them? What can they do to take that next step to pass those teams? I don't see it happening.

One thing that I see in common with those three teams are their well rounded defenses. They have players that can defend multiple positions. They could probably use another scorer for their respective teams. Maybe if Evan Turner starts living up to his loft expectations and start becoming a more consistent scorer. Paul George is quickly becoming a rising star in this league and he may become more of a threat on the offensive end.

Lets look at the Monta trade now..

The trade was really Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh
for Andrew Bogut, Stephen Jackson

We wouldnt have gotten the #7 pick if we didn't make that trade, so I'd add Barnes to what we got
We traded Jackson for Jefferson and pick 30, with that pick we got Festes Ezeli

Monte Ellis, Ekpe Udoh for Andrew Bogut, Richard Jefferson, Harrison barnes, Festes Ezeli

Looks like a great trade to me
There was many people in here that didnt like the trade, I liked it since the first time I heard of it
