Marathon
Man this guy must have been flying. I am running my first half marathon next month and was hoping to finish under 2 hours. He ran the full in almost that time. Damn that's fast.

if you want to have a time under two hours, run for distance and not time when you're working out. its better to run 6 twelve minute miles than 3 eight minute miles, so on and so forth. on race day, run for your time, not any faster or slower, and you should do fine.

Except he didn't officially set the record.

Because Monday's race had a strong tailwind on a downhill course, Mutai's run is not recognized by track's international governing body as a record.

it really shouldn't matter. conditions will always vary in ways that may help or hinder runners.
