I do too. Its not his fault he was put in a position with a team of guys who didn't understand the value of sacrifice. He was a good to almost great hitter with the Red Sox and A's who just didn't get his message across to guys who refused to listen.

I think Sabean is going to try and justify the idiotic decision by Neukom to extend his contract by going hard after Jason Bay. In my opinion, if he does that, there will be 2 certainties:

1) The Giants will again vastly overpay
2) Jason Bay will be a huge disappointment and will never be worth the money paid to him.

Bay is a good player. He is certainly better than someone like Aaron Rowand and probably worth the contract that Rowand received.. 12 M per yr. HOWEVER.. he is not a superstar, can go long stretches where he is in a funk at the plate, and has holes in his swing. He is not worth 15+ million thats for sure.

I am sure Sabean will panic because of the Giants horrible offense. If he had only had the foresight to draft a few good hitters over the years this team would not be in the situation they are in now.

I dont know about you.. but I think 2 years from now the Giants will fire Sabean and we will all be saying that they should have done it after the 2009 season.

Thats not how I want to get there. That builds to the short term and doesn't serve to win us any championship.

I don't know about you but the objective of every season isn't just to make the playoffs and get bounced early.

For his career, 6 years, he is averaging .280, 30 HR and 102 RBI. I would hope it would translate to a higher average, .290 Lower Homeruns, 20-25 and 90 rbi. If he did that with Pablo hitting .290 25 95 and Posey in the .270 15 75 range we could be more run oriented than this year.

The fear is Bochy's statement yesterday. He would rather play for the 3 run homer than play for the run. yikes.
