Oh wait, it just sounds like a WNBA team. I hate their name...way to ruin something cool like Supersonics.
They went from this:

New franchises don't do anything interesting or risky anymore. They're always named after an animal or something real generic. I'd say the only franchise that is an exception is the Titans.
Never again will you see a new franchise come along with a name like Browns, Packers, Red Sox, 49ers, 76ers, Lakers, Rangers, or Maple Leafs.
Instead you get s**t like the Bobcats, Panthers, Lightning, and Devil Rays.

As for the actual topic at hand, it seems like every WNBA team name is named after their NBA counterpart.
There are only two that I like: Monarchs and Sol.
