I love this hire, short of Fangio leaving as a result. If Fangio stayed and we brought in a competent OC, I'd be over the moon. Unfortunately, Fangio is on his way out and probably headed to the Cardinals. Questions now are: who does JT hire at OC, and does Donatell follow Fangio or get promoted to DC? Very interesting couple of days ahead!

I can't believe this. This is worse than the Singletary hire.

"(The season) was defined by mental mistakes," Jean Francois said after the 2010 finale. "Not being prepared for certain situations. When situations happened, I felt like we weren't prepared for that moment and it slipped out of our hands.
"This week of practice, with Tomsula, it was like we were preparing for every situation: four minutes, two minutes. What happens when it's 3rd-and-1? What happens when we're backed up in the end zone? He worked on every different situation so that when we got in the game it didn't feel brand new."
I don't doubt Tomsula's attention to detail. It's the lack of experience on offense in the NFL that has me concerned the most.
If he can actually get someone to run the offense there's a chance. But man, is this just deflating in general.

Everyone who is mad about this hireThey are the same uninformed nobodies who think Jed York is a bad owner.
Please explain why this makes more sense than Fangio, who is also an in-house hire and was actually running the defense?

The team needs to be overhauled offensively not really understanding the hiring of a DLine coach when the team hasn't had problems on the defensive side of the ball since before Harbaugh arrived.
Not understanding 3 weeks for them to come to this decision being as they knew Harbaugh was gone for at least three months ago.
It just feels like the Singletary hire all over again.... seriously just deflated

The 49ers knew they'd be hiring a HC for months. If it took them nearly 3 wks to hire one who was under their noses, what does that tell us?
That they decided to thoroughly search through all the head coach candidates? This tweet is just silly.

Exactly. This is a joke. I like Tomsula as a position coach but the players will be turning a deaf ear to his rah rah style by end of next season. He doesn't carry enough cache' to attract a good OC. The Yorks need to take away the keys from Jed before he totals the car.
