so....what happened in 2012?

Bad draft, but also it was a bad class. What about 2011 and 2014? 2013 was solid too

The idiocy of bringing up the 2012 draft is getting old. Every GM has a bad draft, if you think they don't, then you've been playing way too much Madden. Bill Walsh had bad drafts, Newsome in Baltimore has had 4 or 5 entire drafts that he's blown.

Baalke is a Top 5 GM and a guy who has consistently gotten it done. He's probably the last guy I'd want to see fired from this team. He's provided the talent that they need but its up to the coaches to use that talent in the best manner possible.

Also, no man is an island when it comes to the draft especially. The scouts, the coaches, everyone gets their 5 cents in and then GM has to pull the trigger, either alone or in conjunction with a coach. Not every good pick is all to his credit and not every bad one is either. Where he's shined has been in free agency, replacing guys, bringing in decent talent at a cheap price, making smart moves, re-signing key guys and letting others go. Overall he's done a damn good job and the 49ers could do FAR worse as far as GM goes.

2012 was more than a bad draft. It was a dumpster fire. It was like stomping out a flaming bag of sh*t only to twist your ankle and fall down a flight of stairs.

Every GM makes bad selections, but few draft so badly that none of the players from three years ago is even on the roster.

Tony Jerod Eddie is the only salvageable piece from that draft and he was an UFA.

Baalke deserves his share of blame.

Pretty much all of them have a really bad draft, go look at Newsome's 2004 and 2005 drafts for further info on that. Trent Robinson has turned into a decent contributor for the Redskins and he was a 6th rounder in that draft, Baalke also traded away the 3rd rounder and turned that into additional picks. It was a bad draft, but there's not a single GM that holds his job for any appreciable amount of time that doesn't have one sooner or later.

.....and like I said, you can't really pin the blame on Baalke alone, just as you can't give him all the credit alone. Harbaugh spoke about how much he admired James and what a great player he was...etc..........are you under the impression that he was drafted in a vacuum without any input from the coaches...........
