Another thing that REALLY stings is the failed two-point conversion (especially because Reed was offsides). Imagine the game being 34-31 on the last drive of the game, and Akers needing to make only a chip shot extra-point length field goal to tie the game.
Granted, I suppose Baltimore would've marched down and won the game after that (especially since they had all three time outs), but still!

some things are not even worth answering cept i have wanted him gone all year and that b******t soft s**t just cinched it for me.. I KNEW that a*****e could not call three good games in a row.. Jh deserves just as much blame,, he should have realized the play calls at the end were horses**t unless they were bound and determined to make ck the star

The kickoff return was devastating.
Unforgivable penalties.
Granted we made lots of mistakes. But we played well enough to come back in the 2nd half, nearly tied the game, and put ourselves in a position to win.
The following sequence will never be forgotten or forgiven. Roman did this repeatedly this year. For no reason we abandoned the run and it cost us repeatedly this season.
1st and 7 with approximately 2:40 seconds.
We have the best O-Line in FB.
We are averaging over 8 yards per carry.
Their best run defender is injured and out of the game.
We are a power running team.
We have several jumbo packages.
We have been running the pistol successfully.
All we need to do is average 2 yards per carry and we score a TD.
There are many things to be angry about. The non-call on 4th down would have given us 1st and goal on the 1 yard line. But that play calling was atrocious and Roman cost us a ring. I still cannot believe we had a 300 yd passer, 2 100 yd WRs, and a 100 yd RB yet we still lost. The officials hurt us, our special teams hurt us, our secondary was exposed repeatedly, we looked sloppy, but we still battled back. We were in a position to win IN SPITE of our mistakes. Roman didn't just screw up once, he screwed up 3 times.
RUN THE DAMN READ OPTION. WE WERE PICKING UP MAJOR CHUNKS EACH TIME. RUN IT 3 TIMES CONSECUTIVELY. CALL A DESIGNED RUN, WE HAD A TIME OUT LEFT. THEY COULD NOT STOP IT. YOU DONT THROW THE BALL IN A SHORT FIELD BY ROLLING TO ONE SIDE. DAMN YOU ROMAN.
This.

That last sequence at first and goal at the six is really hard to understand. They're biggest run stopper, Ngata, is out of the game. Gore's been running wild. The line is pumped. Kaepernick has been running wild.... so he gives it to a scat back to go up the middle and then tries for three corner passes to Crabtree. I just don't get it. It just seems like a complete brain fart to me.
Four plays to make six yards. Why don't you just keep pounding off tackle with Gore? I'll never understand that. I want Niners fans to stop complaining about bad calls. There were bad calls on both sides. But nothing can explain the last sequence play calling. That just suuuuuuuuuked!

That rollout... oh my god... so bad
And a fade to Crabtree. I'm not sure if there could be a worse call.

Not just Roman. How about the TO that Harbaugh has to burn because of Kaep taking too long. It also chucked away the 1st choice play in that situation since the Ravens were seeing it before the whistle. Now that I think about it, this non-play was probably the reason Roman didn't go back to the pistol/read-option again. We had already shown our hand what we wanted to do.

I thought for sure Kaep would have ran it in on 3rd or 4th down. I don't understand why we didn't use our best weapon when the game was on the line. Come all the way back to blow it with the last few play calls. Ugh.....

Looking at that roll out again, it looks like Kap had a chance to run it in, but nothing obvious.
The Ravens just willed the win, just like they willed wins against the Bronco's and Patriots. The way the game started just shows that they wanted it more.

That last sequence of play calling is why the Niners lost. Period. I don't know who called the plays, but it was a complete disaster.

New poster here, although I've been coming to this site for years.
Anyway, I don't like blaming others for things that we should have won on our own, so I won't begin by harping on the referees. I think our secondary demonstrated just how suspect they were, especially Whitner and Culliver who seem to be liabilities. Nobody on the defense seemed to display the willingness to want to wrap up and tackle anyone. And, nobody was able to get in Flacco's face to force an incomplete pass. I got used to seeing multiple defenders on him and he was still able to dump the ball off for a great completion.
The offense was just stale. I liked the protection that Kaepernick had but I was grossed out by the inability to run. And that sweep that was called to get Gore around the right side was horrible. He doesn't have that kind of speed to make those work. All in all, overall failure. Just ourselves to blame.
