You know what's crazy about this list...that some of these dudes could have really been good players with proper coahing and a real chance.

So true. A lot of wasted talent on this list. Some of them were a lost cause to begin with, some were scrubs, but one thing they all have in common is that they were placed in a terrible situation.

especially mcquarters , talk about getting roasted
I clearly remember when our secondary was so bad that there was a new starting CB every week! And things got so bad that the Niners were actually considering trying to convert Chuck Levy to DB because he was the fasted player on our roster.
PJ Fleck

Giovanni Carmazzi. Picked this clown over Tom Brady. At least Cody Pickett played on special teams.

Newberry?

He wasn't either. I missed that.

Newberry & Johnson weren't bad with Mooch, but from 2003-2006 they went from average, to almost invisible; of course you can accredit it to overall system drop-off/poor coaching/Donahue, but these guys fell apart/disappeared after Mooch got fired.

in 2004 eric johnson caught 82 balls for 825 yards, by far the best production in his entire career

Prior to bagging Jessica Simpson

NHAP, where have you been, to mentor young Jed

This thread wouldn't be complete without a creative silver lining in an otherwise hot steaming pile that was that period:

Yeah, he was good for a couple of years. Everybody wears down eventually.
