It's very possible.

AP went off on them last time. And this time it's in Minn. And the entire season is on the line for Minn. Very little shot of making the playoffs if they lose.
im horny all the time

What about that Frank Gore guy??? He's pretty good on 3rd down, and not bad on 1st and 2nd down as well.

Sure, perhaps at the beginning of the game. But anyone who pays close attention to Gore, knows he wears down as the game goes on. He runs extremely hard, but you can clearly see him calling to be subbed after a hard run. What happens when he does that? They put in LMJ or Dixon. Do defenses fear LMJ or Dixon out the backfield? No.

Anyone who thinks Gore is an every down back at this point is in denial. The fact is, 49ers can no longer rely on a ground and pound run scheme since we lost Hunter. I don't understand why no one can see this. It's clearly obvious.

So how do they make for it? They use the pistol/Q. Because the formation still allows versatile run/pass scheme that keeps a defense honest. Is it perfect? No. But has it worked against top tier teams. Yes.

Coaches are working with what they have, and all those complaining that "we should go back to what we did before" is completely ignoring the fact that 49ers do not have the same RBs that were the catalysts for those formations.

Ted Robinson said it best "People have no idea how crucial it was to lose Kendall Hunter."
Get real the Pistol is a gimmick college offense. It and all the others before it will not work in the nfl. We switched to a gimmick because Jim and company must believe boy wonder can not run the base offense if not how else do you explain the change after Chicago. Oh and this team will win or lose based on Frank Gore and not the QB's we are not built to p***y foot around in this gimmick called the pistol

We ran the traditional offense vs the Bears with Gore and Hunter, and it was basically unstoppable. Then a week after we lost Hunter in the Saints game. That's when the offense started to change.

I respect your opinion about the pistol, however you'll have to accept it.
So that means Roman switched to the pistol for LMJ, not for Kaepernick!

If that's true, then its time to switch back.

LMJ can run the traditional offense, he's shown some toughness and he's approximately the same size as Hunter.

I think a little bit of both.

CK and LMJ both thrived in this formation, and because LMJ is forced into action, it makes sense to place him in position to maximize his skills and (in a sense) shorten his learning curve.

Now whether or not LMJ can thrive in the traditional run scheme remains to be seen. Hunter needed a whole year to learn how to read his blocks and make the right cuts, he was finally thriving this year and it showed up big time.

I'm not sure if LMJ can adapt as fast. Perhaps this is something that's happening behind the scenes, we'll see.
You just don't change it for a guy who wasn't active most of the season. Gore is the horse feed him and keep running like we did early in the season. This pistol is not working for Gore and if it was to help LMJ then it didn't help 3.8 yards per carry.
Minn is going to pound Peterson in an attempt to not only win and keep Rodgers off the field but also to get that rushing record. He got 210 last time at GB now at home needs 208. If he gets near the record Minn wins.

It won't work against all defenses man, that's when in-game adjustments come into play, and that's all on the coaches.

Fact is, Gore is cannot carry the ball 25-30 times a game as effectively as he once did. If that was the case, then OF COURSE they would lean on Gore. That's what every NFL offense wants is a every down back to confide in, but we don't have that man, so we have to improvise. So something has to be said about us being 4-2 in the midst of restructuring an offensive scheme.

You gotta give props. If this was any other coaching staff, we would have a total collapse.
Packs have a good chance to lose and 49ers have a good chance to win.....I like our odds this Sunday....

This. I don't get all the people who are saying "Gore can carry the team, he can run the ball like 50 times a game." For all intents and purposes, Gore is no longer a full-time running back. He's still a very good one, but having Hunter allowed him to get enough rest. As much as people try to equate James to being the same as Hunter, that's simply false, they are entirely different types of runners. Losing Hunter really hurt and while its nice to have James contributing, he provides a different sort of running style that as of yet hasn't been as effective as what Hunter was doing.

Why did we pickup Jacobs? He would be ideal if we gave him 3-8 attempts a game earlier in the year. Less wear on Gore and Hunter. Now with Hunter out, we could maintain some power running using LMJ in a Hunter type role and giving Jacobs some of the load. The guys not a phenominal back by any means, but he can carry the load. He did it in NY quite a bit.

Don't understand why we never used him.
Minnesota can still tie GB in order for us to get the #2 seed correct?

I would love to see a tie if that's the case.

Right now Frank isn't even a part time running back, his effectiveness has been limited to the inexperience at QB. It has nothing to do with LMJ's inexperience, period.

I don't understand this sentence.
