5 fumbles and a pick

Its totally valid to point out that we could have had way more turnovers in this game and that it needs to be fixed before the playoffs.

We will not continure to be so lucky with all the Kap fumbles that have been recovered by us. This will not continue and I'm not just talking about this last game. He fumbles alot but we have been lucky to recover all of them. Anyone really think we will continue to recover all of these fumbles going forward?

Its a concern to me but if its not for others so be it. Come playoff time, TO's will be huge in a game. Kap has played very well but he has also been lucky. He had another pass that should have been picked in the endzone last night. These things must be ironed out before we get into the playoffs.

Its easy to say that I'll accept this level of mistakes with the increased big play ability cause we have won and gotten lucky with alot of potential turnovers. If half of the fumbles and or dropped picks were to have happened would we be saying the same things? I don't think so and that is all I've and some have tried to point out.

This! I hate this fckin' mentality that if you criticize Kaep, you're an Alex Smith lover and Kaep hater and if you criticize Alex - you're an Alex Smith hater. WTF?!? Kaep played a good game but he can't be fumbling snaps that many times in a game. In fact, it should hardly ever happen.

i've said it many times already, he had a great game but needs to work on getting clean snaps. more time with goodwin? that's easily fixable, big picture is that the sky's the limit for him

Yeah this isnt a new problem and its not because of the weather. Ball wasnt slipping out he pulling back before he had it, and hes fumbles snaps in other games. Also Brady took almost 100 snaps and didnt fumble any. Its fixabpe but it needa addressed. Its a common problem with shotgun QBs.

I don't see anyone "anointing" Kaepernick as the GOAT or anything close to that. For me, the most impressive thing about Kaepernick's game last night other than the rating and the four TD passes was the way he kept his calm in the face of the mistakes. It would have been very easy for a young QB (or an experienced QB for that matter) to get rattled with the slippery, freezing ball and the multiple fumbles. Add a hostile environment and blitzes of up to seven players and you have a very challenging situation, but Kaepernick just seems to keep his calm and stay cool. For an NFL QB, it's the mental part of the game that is the key and Kaepernick's composure is very encouraging to me.

few weeks ago it was our offense isn't good enough to overcome out own mistakes.



now that we win making a lot of mistakes.... on the road....... against another superbowl contender.......... people still mad.

I think this entire post is very fair analysis. I bolded the first part because I wanted to point out that I made a similar comment about Alex and the offense in the divisional playoff game and was SLAMMED for it by a lot of people on here (not necessarily you dtg_9er, but a lot of people). Its just funny to me.

And as far as the fumbles go, theres really only one fumble that I have a huge problem with....and that would be the fumble by one Delanie Walker. Inexcusable there. Kap's fumbles were just as much the weather and Goodwin's fault as it was his. All 3 were factors in the fumbles, yet a lot of posters are putting them all on Colin.

Yes the weather was a huge factor last night in the fumbles by Kap but that is not a valid excuse. So what, we don't go under center anymore cause its hard to get the snap? No, have to be worried about that and iron it out in practice! We were very lucky to get all of those fumbles and not to see that the game could have easliy gotten away from us if we lose those is a mistake.

Plus, he fumbles when being sacked and while running. Coachs must drill ball security into his head in practice so in the games it becomes second nature. He runs with abandon which is exciting and can/has made for great plays but if we start losing those fumbles its gonna take its toll.

alex should not be discussed,, or dissed. lets just limit our thoughts to who the quarterback is now. the fumbles upset me at the time but looking back we overcame them. it was bad weather and ck looks more comfy in the pistol. Plus we did not have any issues in the second half. agree with 80's. walkers fumble was more tragic. ck made a couple of mistakes but my lord, he made way many more positive plays. no need to nitpick. we are lucky we have done something we have not done for a long time, go to green bay and new england and win. i b***hed and moaned after we won last sunday losing track of the fact that the name of the game at this time of the year when you are locked in mortal combat for the division is winning

Geez you guys need to lay off the OP. He's simply saying that we need to cut down on mistakes, Kaepernick specifically needs to be more protective with the ball. What's wrong with a fan displaying his criticism and concerns for future 49er games? He stated that Kaepernick played a great game, which he did! But let's not ignore the fact that he was having a lot of trouble with the snap and that interception was pretty bad. He made up for it with those four touchdown passes, particularly that first one to Crabtree. That one was a beauty. However, we can't afford to have costly turnovers through fundamental plays like the center quarterback exchange. Granted, it was raining and slippery, but there is no excuse for 5 fumbled snaps. We must fix that. s**t like that will kill us in the playoffs.

Just because someone is critical of some of the mistakes that were made does not mean that they weren't happy with the victory! This is the happiest I have been in a regular season victory! My favorite team beat my most hated team. However, I still acknowledge that our offense needs to cut down on these fundamental mistakes, because that won't fly in the playoffs! We can't expect that our defense is going to force turnovers every game and play lights out against elite offenses like they did the first half vs NE. We have to cut down on the mistakes! That goes for offense, defense, and special teams. Defense needs to stay aggressive throughout. That falls on Fangio.
