Then we smash the Cards and rest for a week before we start the playoffs (1st round bye, baby!).

New England is 8th against the run and 29th against the pass. That means that it will help tremendously to have a healthy receiving corps Sunday so hopefully we get Manningham back but most of all Vernon Davis must be a crucial part of the gameplan. Use what they do well against them. I believe that Patrick or Bowman can have some success covering Hernandez but I don't believe they have anybody ready to cover Vernon.
Originally posted by steelkill:wont have to cover him with brady running from aldon all game long. hes proven that theres not a tackle in the league that can stop him from living in the backfield. whitner goldson willis and bowman will break welker in half if he tries to go inside. i think our corners can hang with their receivers.

New England's TE dont worry me, its Wes Welker that will kill us. Roger wont be able to cover Welker....he's too quick.

I think the teams that can get to the Patriots offense are teams with a good pass rush and athletic linebacking core.
49ers have a good pass rush and the best and most athletic linebackers in the game. These guys can match up vs. Aaron Hernandez and anyone of their 'outlet' receivers such as Woodhead.
Also, we have some decent man-to-man guys in Brown and Culliver. I'd imagine Cullver will be on Lloyd. But I can definitely see Brown on Lloyd and Culliver matched up 1v1 vs. Hernandez.
I think we match up pretty well vs. the Patriots and I'm curious if we can rattle Tim Brady

We can stop them but can they stop us? I don't think so. Us and the Skins get more yards per snap than any other team and our stats are skewed because we milk clock at the end of wins. We just simply don't take a lot of snaps because we chew clock and shorten the game but we have one of the most efficient offenses in this league. We have have the fewest snaps but have done the most with them. My only concern is with Kendall out, how will LMJ fare and with Kaep under center will he protect the ball, make the right reads, and get plays off on time. We have a Dallas Cowboys 1990s offense in a sense. We are very balanced and we are tough to get off the field without scoring and defensively we are taking away the run and the pass this year and we are making life miserable on opponents. Their only hope is to play our type of football or get dominated trying to be pass happy. I don't think the Pats can beat us this way, even in their own home

I wouldn't underestimate the Patriots defense. They near the top 10 when it comes to Points Allowed around 21 PPG.
49ers are #1 at 14 PPG.
Patriots Front seven are pretty good. Wilfork, Spikes and Mayo are really good. If Talib is hurt, then that leaves a hole in their secondary but McCourty and Arrington are both ball hawks and make a lot of plays.
Their defense is pretty good.
This will be a great test for the team and in particular, Kaep.... he's going to have to make some throws to win.
