What does Harbaugh do, if and when Kap loses or has a bad game?

Right now Harbaugh is dancing around all the QB questions, and not saying Kap is the full time starter, when IMO its his job to lose. If kap loses or has a bad game what does harbaugh do? Go back to AS? Or stick with Kap? If he goes back to Smith that could kill the Kap's confidence and at the same time make AS play not trying to mess up, cause he knows he will get pulled in a heartbeat. Is Harbaugh creating the ultimate mistake, a QB controversy in the waiting, especially with a superbowl contending team?? Or does he have this locker room so bought into what he says or does that he could make any call he wants pretty much and get away with it?
