this question was brought up by some fellow 49ers fans last night , when T.O finally realizes he can no longer function as an NFL WR, should the 49ers pull a classy move and let him retire a 49er???
Personally, I am still super Pi$$ed at him for forcing the trade to Philly , we really needed him and he threw us under the bus when he forced that trade.
I personally wouldnt do it , T.O has not made amends with the 49ers , and some of us are still bitter about how he left
how do you guys feel???

Should the 49ers sign T.O to a one day contract and allow him to retire a 49er?

I'd do it...just so we don't have to discuss TO as a FA signing again. Yeah, I remember how he left us...won't ever forgive/forget that! Along with losing Garcia, Rattay was our starter, Erickson as HC, Donahue as GM...one of the lowest points I've seen in my 30+ years as a Niners fan.

I agree , thats what you call "down in the dumps" ...if T.O had stayed , we still would have had some quality on offense , but he really screwed us , so screw him

Did TO do something to you or your family? Geesh!
You may not like him, but guess what? There has only been one WR in 49er history that was better than TO....and he wore #80.

was it necessary to get personal about this with him, just because you passionately disagree?

I'd let him retire as a Niner.
Sure he done some crappy things but boy did i enjoy the ride when he was a Niner. He was my favorite player when he was a Niner. I don't really blame him for leaving even though he did leave on crappy terms and a coward but he saw where this team was headed (the toilet) and left.

I just wanted clarification as to why someone is calling an all time great 49er a disgrace. There has to be some sort of personal vendetta to call him a disgrace.

There is no doubt that TO likes the spotlight. That I can agree with you on. Team wrecker is something that I dont. Its all about how you perceive his situations, rather than what actually happened.
As far as taking John Taylor, Freddie Soloman or Gene Washington over Owens.......TO is a surefire Hall of Famer, while the three you mentioned arent even close. So the fact that you would take an inferior WR shows your bias and dislike for the guy overshadows everything.
