We really don't blitz at all. We send 3 a lot which is basically just to hold the line, maybe eventually get pressure. Sending a 4th or 5th with Brooks and/or Aldon we get pressure more often. If we had Bowman and Willis blitzing more often instead of covering, if we sent Aldon and Brooks every play, etc we would have a lot more sacks. We choose to play coverage and bend don't break. Make sure everything is in front of us instead of gambling and not getting there on a blitz and letting a big play happen.

Frank Gore goes through a full practice; Staley sick

Gore and his bruised ribs made it through the second full practice of the week on Thursday. Manningham (shoulder), Tavares Gooden (elbow), Andy Lee (hand) and Alex Smith (finger) also practiced in full. The only 49er who didn't practice was left tackle Joe Staley, who is dealing with an illness. Staley was on the field for walk-throughs and and observed the second half of Thursday's practice. His illness will not help him in preparing for Cardinals right defensive end Sam Acho.

This is what i want to see Monday night. Us steam roll the Cards

i wanna see jacobs steamroll dockett, but him on his fat ass

Hmm... I would think we send 3 more than once a quarter but I haven't broke down the games that much this year. Mainly the OL, not really the DL when I do. Yeah, like you said it's our style and it's frustrating at times but it's lead to the #2 scoring defense. I guess to me it works for most games but there are games like against the Giants I wish we blitzed more. It's risky though... a lot of the time if you don't get there on a blitz it's a 10-20+ yard play. Seems like rarely a QB doesn't complete a pass when blitzed and nobody gets there or gets pressure.

Thanks for sharing about Staley... I'm sure he will be good to go no matter how sick he is. Gore I bet would have played even if it was the day after the Seattle game. It's just a matter of how much we split the carries with Hunter/Jacobs?.

Yeah, I'd be pretty surprised if Frank gets more than 10-12 carries. Hope his ribs are well padded and they don't take too many chances with him. I think Hunter and Jacobs can do damage if our OL is opening up even a fraction of the holes they were vs Hawks.

Staley will likely be fine and ready to go. Funny, because I was under the suspicion that Alex was sick last week. Kept noticing him doing this face-thing with deep sniffing.

I don't get why we are criticizing the defense... 1st in yards and 2nd in Points...

On offense we must establish our power run game, on defense we must search the Cards offensive line and locate the rusty screen door that is Snyder, and pour as many defenders though it as possible!

I wouldn't be surprised, that stuff probably goes through a locker room fast. You put 50+ people in that small of an area it probably hits a big group of the players but it usually doesn't get talked about by the media unless it's like a flu. A cold is enough to slow us down and probably them but they just have to keep going. I guess their bodies are different... I'm doing everything I can to breath and not poop my pants while they are out playing at a high level. Kind of like Terrell Davis who use to play with migraines. I couldn't imagine.

We need to run the ball well, I'd like to see Brandon Jacobs beat up on the Cards defenders. Also we need to find more creative ways to get Vernon Davis the ball. Not even targeted against the Seahawks? Also Alex Smith can't make any dumb mistakes like that INT in the redzone. I bet Harbaugh and Roman ripped him to shreds when they looked looked over that play.

I want to see Alex be more confident, like he was against Buffalo and Green Bay earlier this season. We have had a few more days of preparation than normal, I expect this offense to be more crisp and in sync.

I see this game being similar to the Seattle game. Their offense really isn't that good, we can take FG's and still get the win. I'm gonna guess a score of 20-13 to the 49ers.
