our coaches out-coached themselves. Some of the calls were mind boggling. It's almost as if they try to implement and entirely new offensive scheme every week.

Yeah, the QB rotation and the gaget plays are getting old quick. With that said, we are 4-2, so its hard to complane too much.

Agree, this is largely on the coaches. Of course the players share some blame, but the gameplan, or at least the commitment to it was on the coaches. We ran the ball well in the first half then got away from the running game and tried to continually be tricky with Kaepernick who had one successful play the entire game. Alex played poorly in the way that he never does - by trying to force the ball into tight areas. That said Kap showed he is not ready for a good defense that is prepared for him, and Alex is still easily the QB that gives this team the best chance to win.
The coaching staff just needs to stop trying to be cute and run the ball, because nobody, including the Giants can stop the niner running game. Before anyone attacks me for that, check the stats and watch the game again - the Giants ran for 4.0 per carry with all the yardage coming late in the third quarter or in the fourth when the niner D that had been on the field way too much got tired and lost their fight from being down 20 points because the offense and special teams kept handing the Giants great field position. Despite 3 possessions in a row that started at the SF 32, 12, and 5 yard lines, the Giants only scored 26 points in the game. The niners on the other hand ran for 4.7 yards per carry, which is well above the league average. Trouble was we only ran 17 times because we were down after the turnovers (which wouldn't have occurred had they simply run the ball). If there is a rematch of this game, it will not be a blowout. I can't say we will win, but I would be confident that the Giants would be overconfident like the Niners were yesterday and that would be to SF's favor. I do think these teams will see each other again, and the result is likely to be very different.

I kind of blame the coaching staff for Alex's picks. He probably feels the pressure of CK begining to take over so he's forcing throws he normally wouldn't. In other words, he's playing outside of him self.

Coaching epic fail! I still can't believe they have not realized that when they abandon the run, they lose! The WildKap is being over used and taking Smith out after the bomb to Moss was just plain stupid. Get back to basics!

Even when they brought in CK he handed off the ball mostly hell leave Alex in if that's what your gonna do why break up the rhythm just for that I expected to see CK take of with the ball I know we were trying to throw off the defense but come on they had this covered from the start

The main alarming this I am noticing is, I am not seeing the fire from last year. It seems the Cardinals had it, but lost it. Now the Seahawks have it. The Hawks are over-achieving with a rookie QB and could very well come in and beat us at home again. Unless we get our sh*t together like...RIGHT NOW, this next game might be rough. I see the Russell WIlson play-actions killing us all day.

When CK came in the NYGs assumed--run or long pass which they handled easily. CK is too one dimensional at this point and is only a change of pace that folks are catching on to.
Before the game I believed that NY was very good at watching the edges and this was so true yesterday.

yeah. personally i think the team put themselves on a pedestal after the packers game and forgot to take that lunch pail mentality with them when they got on. they got knocked off the horse and can't find it.
IMO Harbs should pull the "back to basics" card this short week of practice to get that mentality back.

Also, at one point you have to hold the players accountable. We can't just blame the coaching-staff every time we lose. Our corners were sucking big cajones and never bailed us out

There might be some truth to what Greg Cosell alluded to about trying to "manufacture" offense with the trick plays/gimmick plays, but again it was just one game.
