i knew when i posted this it would take an alex smith turn, though it was meant to be a football strategy discussion--surprised it took 4 posts to do so

Ooooh, but leave him be. His 40 thousand posts have been equally worthy of all his other one-liners that add so very much to the WZ. Why, he is the very pride of the WZ... adding so much that he does... How dare you even question him...
I really do hope that Roman plans to test Mcknight early and often until he proves he can play cornerback. Alex has been coached to attack the weakness of the defensive scheme. I pray that Roman and Harbaugh push Alex to take advantage of some match-ups and attack the weakness of certain players.
Should play to Alex's strengths. He's going to be asked to cover slot positions so it's not like they're going to put him on an island against Randy Moss. I'll take Manningham or Williams on McKnight any day of the week.

Alex goes after matchups all the time. Look how often he goes to VD whenever he gets a LB on him. And he does pick on weak CB's. Come on, Alex is Not dumb.
Getting back on topic--played CB in HS so may not be quite as bad as many assume. Great athlete...and the SUV belonged to his girlfriend!
